My Top Ten Favorite PC Games Ever

My top ten favorite PC Games Ever

Here is another one of my Top Ten’s. This top ten list is my favorite games I have ever played on a computer. I put many, MANY, hours into these games, and somehow, despite the fact some of them are almost a decade old, they never seem to get old with me. These games are games you must install and play with a disc, so no Solitaire or Hearts. Also, I grouped sequels and expansions together. And, from 10th to 1st, in order, here they are:

10. Quantum of Solace

My newest game on this list, Quantum of Solace is, in my opinion, the best James Bond video game since Goldeneye. Granted, I haven’t actually put a lot of time into this game, but the few times I have I really enjoyed it. The graphics are amazing. The game can get a little too difficult at times, and I wish there were more gadgets to use like in Goldeneye, but it’s one of the best recent shooters (past three years) I’ve played.

9. Age of Empires Series (Age of Empires, Age of Empires II, and Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings)

I haven’t played these games in about five years, but man, what a great series of games. The idea for these games is that you build a civilization buy collecting certain resources, then build up an army, and attack the other players. What I really loved about this game was how the Campaigns were based on history. Some of the Campaigns included historic figures like Attila the Hun, Joan of Arc, and Eric the Red. I learned so much history in this game, and this is one of the few video games I have ever played that I not only enjoyed playing, but learned a lot from. I miss this game.

8. NFL Fever 2000

Speaking of games I haven’t played in a while, NFL Fever 2000 is something I have not played in at least 6 or 7 years. The graphics of this game look horrid in comparison to today’s football games, but back then they were pretty good. I remember using the old joystick my family used to have to play PC games and the controls with the joystick were amazing. Not only one of my favorite football video games ever, but one of my favorite sports video games ever.

7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

This is another old game on this list, but just recently I beat it for the second time. When I first got it, I would always get stuck on the part where you have to sneak past Filch at night. However, just a few years ago, I decided to give it another try and I finally beat it for the first time. And this game follows the book pretty well. But it includes missions (like Harry getting fire seeds for Hagrid) that weren’t in the book or movie. However, to this day it is still installed on my computer and I still love playing it.

6. The Backyard Sports series (Backyard Baseball, Backyard Football, Backyard Soccer, Backyard Basketball)

These series of games were based on these young kids that you could control and play sports with. What made the games even greater was when they decided to include famous athletes as kids in the games. I loved having Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, and Ken Griffey Jr. on my baseball team as kids. I put most of my time into the football and baseball games, but I still liked the basketball and soccer ones too. My favorite Backyard Sports kid was Pablo Sanchez, just because of how freaking good he was at everything. I also liked Keisha Smith and Pete Wheeler. And Achmed Khan. Which gets me thinking…. They really included every race in here: White (Pete Wheeler), Black (Jocinda Smith), Asian (Luanne Lui), Arab (Achmed and Amir Khan), Italian (Angela and Tony Delvecchio) and Hispanic (Pablo Sanchez).

5. Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast

One of my favorite Star Wars games ever. In it, you play as Kyle Katarn, a former Jedi Knight. This game takes place after the events of Episode VI and Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian are actually in the game, although they are not playable characters. The game has a great storyline and great graphics for its time. This game is also perfectly challenging, not too easy, not too hard. I also love how you get to wield a lightsaber and control it.

4. The Sims series (The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3)

The best selling PC game ever has to earn a spot on my list, doesn’t it? The Sims series is such a great video game series that has endless possibilities. I put most of my time into the Sims 2, but I still may put more time into the Sims 3. I love creating families and controlling them and watching them grow. I also love to furnish houses. This is a great game for creative people. It would be higher up, but the next three games I have put so much time into, they just had to be higher than this game.

3. Dungeon Siege (Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna)

One of the best unheard of games in PC game history. Dungeon Siege is an RPG where you control a farmer and make your way through a Middle Earth type setting. Along the way you meet travelers who join you and you later can control and have them fight with you. There is even a decent story to this game. I love how the main character you start out with is completely customizable, to gender, hair and skin color, and clothing. Also, you get to equip your group with different weapons and clothing to make them better in combat. And finally each person gets to be either a melee warrior, an archer, or a magician/wizard. My favorite is the melee warrior. I only tried playing Dungeon Siege 2, but it was totally different and I didn’t like it. But with Dungeon Siege and its expansion, Legends of Aranna, one of the best video games I have ever played. And the music for this game is epic.

2. No One Lives Forever series (No One Lives Forever: The Operative, No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.’s Way, and Contract J.A.C.K.)

One of the best shooters I have ever played, perhaps only behind Halo. In the game, you control a female spy named Cate Archer who works for UNITY as they try to stop the evil organization known as H.A.R.M. (They never revealed what H.A.R.M. stands for). What I love most about the game is the story, which should be made into a movie. This game has been called a cross between James Bond and Austin Powers, and I can see that. It’s set in the 1970s. Some of the missions are a ton of fun. And in the game, Contract J.A.C.K., you control a male… but that’s all I can remember. Contract J.A.C.K. is a shortened game due to budget or something. I wish they had come out with a No One Lives Forever 3, because I would be one of the first in line to get it.

1. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds (And the Clone Campaigns expansion)

What can I say about this game? This game just simply never gets old. There are so many things you can do, like playing a regular game, campaign, creating a scenario, and playing online. I remember when this game was new I used to play this game on the now defunct zone.com, owned by Microsoft. You would not only be able to play against people, but use your created scenarios with other people and then they would have your scenario which they could then play on their own time. This game is based on the Age of Empires series, only with Star Wars characters and creatures and locales. Truly one of the best Star Wars games ever, and my favorite PC game ever. If I could only play one computer game for the rest of my life, this would be the one I’d choose.
