I recently rated the Towns and Areas in Dungeon Siege, so I'll also rate the characters. I'm going to rate them based on how effective they are and how much I feel they contribute once they become a part of my party. I'll go in chronological order of when you meet the characters. Of course, the starting character is customizable, so I'm not going to rate them.
Ulora - 7.5/10
Ulora isn't the best fighter in the game, but I keep her rating up due to her versatility. When you first meet Ulora, you can basically turn her into anything you want, and she'll be at least fairly decent at it. Consider Ulora the utility player of the game.
Gyorn - 6.5/10
For melee fighters, Gyorn ends up being below average for me most of the time. He's not awful, but could be better. Fortunately, since you meet him so early, you could make him into something else if you really wanted to. But if you take him and Rusk at the same time, he instantly starts behind Rusk on stats.
Zed - 5.5/10
I don't know what it is, but Zed has never been that great for me. Usually, I end up replacing him with Merik or Andiemus, so I can't ever recall reaching the end with him. If you don't need a wizard and you're tight on gold, you might want to leave him behind. It might be smarter to make your starting character or Ulora a wizard.
Rusk - 9/10
Rusk always ends up being super solid for me and one of my best fighters. He costs a bit of gold for when you meet him, but he's worth it. He's incredibly tough and will level up fast if you give him the right weapon and gear.
Naidi - 8/10
Naidi is also super solid. It's a shame you only meet two pure archers in the entire game. She is worth picking up, but again, she is costly.
Gloern - 6.5/10
I can never get Gloern to be one of my best melee fighters, so I can't recall ever reaching the end with him. Melee fighters are a dime a dozen, and Gloern is certainly one of them. He's also one of three dwarf melee fighters in the game, but at least he is free.
Kroduk - 8.5/10
Kroduk, like Rusk, is another great melee fighter. However, I do find him slightly lagging behind Rusk more often than not. You could get away with only Rusk and Kroduk as melee fighters if you want to.
Lorun - 6.5/10
It's crazy how far you have to get into the game until you meet a wizard who specializes in combat magic. And Lorun is decent. But I find for his time in the game, you either deal with one of two faults, depending on the attack spell you use. Either you use Soul Lance, which drains his Mana like crazy, or you use Flame, which puts Lorun in harm's way and gets him to pass out a lot and possibly die.
Merik - 7.5/10
I bump Merik's rating up because of the great items he has. He has a really good cloak and boots that add to health, mana, and add 1 to Intelligence. He's also not bad of a fighter, either, and I would take him (slightly) over Zed. And the best part is that he's free.
Phaedriel - 8/10
I give Phaedriel the same rating as Naidi. Both are good archers and worth their gold. I'd rate them both higher if they were cheaper or free. But Phaedriel, like Naidi, is worth picking up. I'd recommend carrying both.
Andiemus - 7/10
I've never been a huge fan of his, and it's really a judgment call if you want him or Merik. I wouldn't recommend both, but you could if you want. I don't like how he costs a bit of gold, but you can replenish your gold soon after by selling to the merchant near him.
Boryev - 8/10
Boryev is the first character in the game that has multiple skills. He's got some melee skill points as well as combat magic. I'd go with just combat magic, but maybe occasionally switch to melee if his mana gets drained using a high-cost spell, such as Fire Wall. But doing that requires giving him a lot of your attention. Still, he's worth it. You won't find a tougher wizard in the game (unless you make the starting character that).
Rhut - 5.5/10
I rarely add Rhut to my team. Generally, my team's melee fighters are superior by the time I meet him. Plus, it's just a waste of gold. I'd only ever pick him up if I needed to add a melee fighter for some reason.
Sikra - 8.5/10
This is my favorite wizard in the game, and the only female one. She has combat and nature magic skills, although combat is superior, so I'd recommend sticking with that. She's fairly tough too, considering she's a wizard. And best of all, she's free.
Ulfgrim - 5.5/10
Ulfgrim, like Rhut, costs a lot and generally isn't worth adding to your team. Maybe if I'm doing an all-melee fighters team, I'll add him. And like Ulfgrim, his skills tend to be a bit behind my team's.
Lord Bolingar - 8/10
Lord Bolingar typically has comparable skills, but he comes so late in the game. Is it worth making a change so late? Typically by the time you meet him, your team has started to gel well and doesn't need much improvement. Maybe if somehow you still have a pack-mule and want to replace it?
With that said, here is my ideal final team:
Created Character
Rusk
Kroduk
Naidi
Phaedriel
Merik/Andiemus/Zed
Boryev
Sikra
It's got a nice balance. Typically, my created character is a melee fighter, so that would make 3 melee fighters, two archers, and three wizards.

Top 10 Favorite TV Characters of All Time
I just got to thinking recently. I've
made my Top TV shows ever, but what about my favorite TV characters? Most shows I've seen have 1 or 2 characters
that really stand out and are well-written, but I'm only going with one per
show (and no animated shows... sorry).
Of course, a lot of credit has to go to the wonderful actors who portrayed
them. Here are my Top 10 Favorite TV
show characters (That I've seen). And
for fun, I will include my favorite moment from that character, as well as a video clip of that moment.
10. Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), Parks and Recreation
I had to include at least one female character on this list, and it's Leslie from Parks and Rec. I actually used to find Amy Poehler really annoying, but now after having watched Parks and Rec, I can say she is really fun to watch. Her character is an inspiration to those at long odds, but with a lot of ambition.
Favorite moment: Leslie and Ben's first kiss
9. Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), The Office
I'm not a huge fan of Michael Scott or Dwight Schrute on The Office, but they are good characters. To me though, no one can top John Krasinski as Jim Halpert. He was so good with the dramatic scenes with him and Pam (Jenna Fischer), and he is especially good at the deadpan stares at the camera. My favorite moments of his though are the numerous pranks he pulls on Dwight.
Favorite moment: When he dresses up and acts like Dwight to annoy him
8. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), The Big Bang Theory
Sheldon is without a doubt the star of The Big Bang Theory. He's a part of every funny moment on the show it seems like. His obsessive-compulsiveness, his intellectual prowess, just everything make him such a unique character. Jim Parsons has won multiple Emmy's for this role, and for good reason.
Favorite moment: "Bazinga!" (In the ball pit)
7. Hank Moody (David Duchovny), Californication
David Duchovny clearly found his best role as Hank Moody. What I love about Hank is his quick wit, especially with the ladies. He might not always make the right choices, but he always has the right intentions and he's clearly a good guy deep down. He makes picking up chicks look effortless.
Favorite moment: "Boooooo ya! The baby's black, Karen, the baby's black!"
6. Darryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), The Walking Dead
Darryl is many people's favorite character on TWD and he's mine too. Rick is a close 2nd, but he often makes choices and decisions I don't agree with. Darryl is just a badass who will occasionally show his soft side. For these reasons, Darryl cannot be killed off. Many fans would protest and probably petition to have him brought back (somehow). Darryl might put up a tough front, but he's got a soft side deep down.
Favorite moment: Reacting to his brother becoming a walker
5. Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Friends
Friends is an ensemble cast, and while they all did really good jobs, no one stood out to me more than Matthew Perry as Chandler. Most people would agree Chandler is the funniest of the six, and I'm one of them. What also helps is that he's a very relatable character, dealing with not finding the perfect job to family issues to finding the girl of his dreams.
Favorite moment: The back and forth game with Phoebe, then telling Monica he loves her in TOW Everyone Finds Out
4. John Locke (Terry O'Quinn), LOST
There aren't many characters on TV that go through the trials and tribulations that John Locke goes through in his life. From all the flashbacks and the portrayal of The Smoke Monster/Man in Black as him, he was definitely one of the highlights of the show every week. I really wish he hadn't died, but perhaps he had to in order for him to finally have some peace.
Favorite moment: Admitting he was wrong about not pushing the button in the hatch
3. Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris), How I Met Your Mother
Sure, the show centers around Ted (Josh Radnor) and how he met his kids' mother, but the star is obviously Barney Stinson. NPH is so good at portraying the womanizing Barney that a couple seasons in the writers just gave up and ended up giving him more screen time than any other character, even Ted. Not many (if any) TV characters have made me laugh more.
Favorite moment: Going on The Price is Right (best video I could find)
2. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), Dexter
No one could have portrayed Dexter quite like Michael C. Hall. Dexter wasn't that complex of a character, which is why he's not #1, but I certainly understood why he was the way he was. Basically, Dexter was a badass and should have gone out in a bad ass way. His character certainly made some questionable decisions near the end.
Favorite moment: Mocking a victim of his by yelling "F**********k!"
1. Walter White (Bryan Cranston), Breaking Bad
I think the role of Walter White should go down as the one of the best TV show characters... EVER... from any time period. Basically, he is a good guy gone bad, but you still feel for him because of his good intentions. Towards the end, he does pretty much go all the way dark side, but he redeems himself in pretty much the coolest way possible. Hard to top that.
Favorite moment: "Say my name." "You're Heisenberg" "You're goddamn right"
10. Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), Parks and Recreation
I had to include at least one female character on this list, and it's Leslie from Parks and Rec. I actually used to find Amy Poehler really annoying, but now after having watched Parks and Rec, I can say she is really fun to watch. My Thoughts on the Cast of Star Wars Episode VII and the Roles I think They'll Play
The filming for Star Wars Episode VII is underway, with pretty much all of the
principal cast having been announced. The
cast includes Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy
Serkis, Max Von Sydow, Oscar Isaac, and recently announced Lupita Nyong'o and
Gwendolyn Christie. I really like this
cast. I don't think it's perfect, but
I'll hold my judgment for after having seen the film. So for now, since no plot or character names
have been revealed, I will predict the role each actor will have to see how
close I get.
Adam Driver: Main Bad Guy/Sith (Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus?)
Adam Driver has been rumored to be cast as the main villain, so I'll go with that. Obviously, it would be near impossible for his character to compare to the legendary Darth Vader, but if he comes close, his acting and JJ/Kasdan's writing will be well-commended. If I wrote the script, however, I would have Adam eventually be revealed to be the son of Han and Leia. In the expanded universe novels, one of Han and Leia's sons (they had two sons and a daughter) turns to the dark side. I would love to see Adam reveal to someone (his sister...?) that he is their brother. If he is a bad guy, he will more than likely be a Sith and fight a few lightsaber battles.
Daisy Ridley: Lead female, daughter of Han and Leia (Jaina Solo?)
Daisy Ridley is one of the unknowns to be cast, and seeing as the bears a resemblance to Carrie Fisher as well as the fact that in the cast release photo, seen below, she is in between Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, I believe she will be playing their daughter. Also, I'd like to point out each Star Wars trilogy has had a trio be the main stars, which included two guys and a girl (Han, Luke and Leia for the original trilogy, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme for the prequel trilogy). I think she'll definitely be the girl in the trio for this trilogy, more than likely continuing down the female line of Skywalkers.

John Boyega: Member of trio, descendant of Mace/Lando?
John Boyega, another unknown (at least to me) cast, has a role that is hard to predict. He is rumored to be one of the stars, so I'm guessing a good guy and one of the trio. To add to his character, I think he'll be either a descendant of Mace Windu (Great-nephew?) or Lando Calrissian (Son/Nephew/Grandson). He's got to have some connection to the rest of the characters, so being a relative of Lando's would be the most logical choice. The fact that Billy Dee Williams has yet to be cast might mean the character of Lando is dead for this trilogy, meaning Boyega might be seeking vengeance or redemption. But, if he's a Jedi, the most logical thing would be to have him be a descendant of Mace Windu. I just can't pinpoint it.
Domhnall Gleeson: Luke's son (Ben Skywalker?)
I love Dohnall Gleeson. He was awesome in Harry Potter and he was brilliant in About Time. He will make a fantastic addition to the cast. His role is slightly hard to predict, but I'm going to go on a limb here. I predict he will be Luke Skywalker's son, therefore completing the trio with Ridley and Boyega. I could be completely wrong and his role could be just as a supporting character, like Bail Organa was in the prequel trilogy. But the resemblance with his actor-father Mark Hamill is there, albeit slightly, and what's a Star Wars movie without a Skywalker as part of the main cast?
Andy Serkis: Alien Creature (Bothan?)
Andy is arguably the best motion capture actor today, playing Gollum, King Kong, and Caesar from Planet of the Apes. So it would be safe to assume he'd have another motion caption role. Since this is a Star Wars film, he'll probably be an alien creature. If I had to pick a species from the Star Wars universe, I'd say he'll play a Bothan, because they were mentioned in the original trilogy, but never shown. Andy Serkis isn't tall enough to play a Wookiee, so that's not really a possibility. He won't be the lead star of the film, but his role certainly will be interesting and will more than likely use the best in technology available.
Max Von Sydow: Evil Leader (that is killed off)
Many legendary actors have appeared in Star Wars, from Peter Cushing to Alec Guinness to Christopher Lee. Most of them have played bad guys. My best guess is that Max too will play a bad guy. I think his role will be similar to Peter Cushing's in A New Hope. He'll only be in one film and be killed off, but he will have an evil presence. Someone is bound to arise 30 years after the fall of the Empire to try to bring it back, and maybe that could be Max's character that leads it. I am pretty confident that they will kill off Max's character in Episode VII, because of Max's age and not wanting to commit to him for a full trilogy.
Oscar Isaac: Evil apprentice
It is very hard to pinpoint what Oscar Isaac's role will be. I loved him in Inside Llewyn Davis, but I don't think he'll have that large of a role for the new trilogy. I think he'll be like a Darth Maul/General Grievous type villain, not really being the main villain but certainly one the heroes will have trouble with. I would guess that he will also be a Sith and not just an Imperial Officer or anything. I'll just say he'll be Adam Driver's apprentice that is probably killed off before Adam, but hopefully not in Episode VII.
Gwendolyn Christie: Mon Mothma-type leader
I haven't seen Game of Thrones (yet) or anything else Gwendolyn Christie has been in, so it's hard to say what she's capable of as an actress. She's more than likely playing a supporting character, and I will predict she'll play a role very similar to Caroline Blakiston/Mon Mothma in Return of the Jedi. She could even play her daughter or granddaughter.
Well, those are my thoughts on the cast and predictions for the roles they'll have. Things will start to become clearer as things get leaked or announcements are made about the plot or characters. I'm going to go back to this post after having seen Episode VII and see how bad or good I was at predicting the characters for each of the actors. I can't wait!

Lupita Nyong'o: Asajj Ventress
One of the more recent additions to the cast was Lupita Nyong'o, the
Oscar-winning actress from 12 Years a Slave.
There have been rumors that she could play Asajj Ventress, one of the
main villains from the Star Wars The Clone Wars TV series. I'll go with the rumors yet again, feeling
that I might be wrong this time. Asajj
Ventress would be quite a few years older (approximately 60 years have passed
since the Clone Wars). But they
curiously did not kill off Ventress in that series, because perhaps they were
saving her for something else. I could
be wrong and Lupita could end up playing a descendant of Mace Windu or Lando
Calrissian, or an entirely new character, but whatever role she has will be a very interesting one.Gwendolyn Christie: Mon Mothma-type leader
I haven't seen Game of Thrones (yet) or anything else Gwendolyn Christie has been in, so it's hard to say what she's capable of as an actress.
